Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join the Cub Scout Pack?

Girls and Boys in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Scouts 6th grade and older can join a 220 Troop

When are meetings?

Den meetings (grade level groups) are the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month during the school year. Pack meetings (everyone in grades K-5) are the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Does the Pack meet in the summer?

We typically try to have one event per month in the summer. Our summertime meetings are usually at a splash pad, public pool, or park, so the kids can get together and have fun!

When can my child join Scouts?

The most convenient time to join Scouts is at the beginning of the school year, but we welcome new Scouts all year long! If your child missed out on joining Scouts in kindergarten, first or second grade, it's not too late to join! They will be placed in a group with other Scouts their age.

How do I know what rank my Scout will be?

Scouts are divided into grade-level groups called dens as follows:

  • Kindergarten: Lions
  • 1st Grade: Tigers
  • 2nd Grade: Woves

  • 5th Grade: Arrow of Light (Notes: 5th graders cross over into a 220 Troop for boys or girls in November)

    Is fundraising required?

Our annual dues cover registration with BSA and awards that your Scout will earn during the year. We fundraise throughout the year to help cover the activities that we do at our den and pack meetings, campouts, and other activities. Each Scout family is encouraged to participate in fundraising to the best of their ability, to help provide a better scouting experience for everyone.

    Is Cub Scouts family-friendly?

Cub Scouts is definitely a family activity! We encourage parents to be involved in their Cub Scout's experience, to be present and helpful at meetings, and to make outings and overnights a family experience.

How much does the Pack camp?

We typically have 3 campouts per year; a Fall and Spring family campout, and a Winter lock-in. All overnight events are family events. Each Scout should have a parent or guardian attend with them and siblings are always welcome at our pack campouts. There are also age-specific summer camps; please visit our summer camp page for more information.

Are parents required to attend meetings and campouts with their Scout?

Lions and Tigers (kindergarten and first grade) are required to have an adult present with them at all events, including den meetings, though parents are welcome at meetings for all age levels. All overnight events do require an adult with their Scout (all ages).

What are the uniform requirements for our pack?

Each Scout should have an age-appropriate uniform.

    • Lions wear a blue Lion T-shirt.
    • Tigers should have a blue BSA uniform shirt, bottoms, and belt with the rank-appropriate neckerchief and slide.
    • Wolves should have a blue BSA uniform shirt, bottoms, and belt with the rank-appropriate neckerchief and slide.
    • Bears should have a blue BSA uniform shirt, bottoms, and belt with the rank-appropriate neckerchief and slide.
    • Webelos should have a tan BSA uniform shirt, olive bottoms, a belt, a plaid neckerchief, and a Webelos slide.

The Scout store also offers socks and hats, but these aren't required. Each Scout should also have a book for their rank, so they can follow along with activities at meetings, and work on certain requirements at home.

How do I join Pack 220?

We encourage you to attend a Monday night den meeting or Tuesday Pack meeting to check out the Pack. If you are interested in joining, you will be given an application at the meeting.

Training is provided for each position and volunteers are often able to shadow another leader in their role in order to learn from their experience. Note: You must be registered as an adult with the Pack, complete Youth Protection Training, and complete position-specific training in order to serve in any of the roles listed above.

What happens after my Scout ages out of the Pack?

In fifth grade, our Arrow of Light Scouts will crossover into the Troop level. Boys will crossover into the Red Troop and girls will crossover into the Blue Troop.

What type of events does the Pack have during the year?
